Conrad Algarve Shines at the World Travel Awards

Portugal's newest five-star property, the Conrad Algarve, picked up the coveted World's Leading New Resort at the recent World Travel Awards, which were held at The Oberoi in New Delhi on the 12th of December.
Located in the luxury setting of Quinta do Lago in the Eastern Algarve, accommodation at the luxury Conrad Algarve comprises 164 rooms and suites, including some with their own indoor swimming pool.
TAP Portugal, the country’s national carrier, also achieved recognition at the awards by scooping the World’s Leading Airline to South America and Africa awards for 2012.
Furthermore, for the seventh consecutive year, Vila Joya in the Algarve was voted the World’s Leading Boutique Resort.
Hailed as the 'Oscars' of the global travel industry by none other than the Wall Street Journal, the World Travel Awards are recognised worldwide as the ultimate travel accolade. The event's Grand Tour in 2012 featured regional heats in Dubai (UAE), Turks & Caicos Islands, the Algarve in southern Portugal and Singapore, with the winners from these competing head-to-head at the Grand Final in India.
Rounding off an eventful year, Graham Cooke, President and Founder of the World Travel Awards, commented: “The past year has continued to challenge every area of travel, tourism and hospitality. However our Grand Final winners have all demonstrated their world-class pedigree over this period, and are currently spearheading the global recovery of travel and tourism. In doing so they are also reinforcing our industry’s role as one of the mainstays of the global economy.”
Established 19 years ago, World Travel Awards is committed to raising the standards of customer service and overall business performance throughout the international tourism industry.
