EasyJet Passes 4 Million Mark in Lisbon

British low-cost carrier easyJet clocked up more than 4 million passenger movements to and from its new hub in the Portuguese capital during its first twelve months of operation.
According to the airline, more than 400,000 passengers were business travellers and total passenger numbers for 2013 are expected to rise by a further 3 per cent.
“The first year of operating our Lisbon base has been very satisfactory and we expect to expand our presence in Portugal where we are now the second biggest operator,” remarked Javier Gandara, the airline's general manager for the Iberian peninsula.
EasyJet currently has four planes based at Lisbon's Portela Airport but according to Gandara there are no immediate plans to increase that number.
