Lisbon's Year-long Culture Festival

The Portuguese capital has triggered a year-long cultural programme comprising regular shows, plays, dance performances, workshops and other types of street entertainment in some of the city’s lesser-known areas.
Launched on Sunday the 12th of May and running until the end of the year, the initiative known locally as the Mais Cultura (More Culture) festival was developed in partnership with thirteen of Lisbon's parishes.
All events are free of charge and, in the words of the organisers, the idea of the festival is to 'bring culture to all people, to those who live in the city of Lisbon, in its neighbourhoods, its parishes, and has the objective of carrying out a policy of proximity with the people and, whenever possible, create new places of cultural centrality'.
