The Algarve Tourist Board is launching an initiative to better inform visitors about the various species of birds that can be spotted in the region.
New information panels are planned in key bird-watching locations across the Algarve providing details of the most common types of bird that frequent the area.
"We remain committed to promoting tourism niches in the region, especially birdwatching, which is enjoyed by over two million English and 48 million Americans," remarked Algarve Tourist Board president, Desidério Silva.
The region has two parks, a nature reserve, two classified bird-watching sites and ten areas of special protection for birds.
